Clinical supervisors’ understanding of spirituality and spiritual care in nursing: A South African perspective (part 2)

The article provides findings of understanding clinical supervisors (CSs) on spirituality and spiritual care in nursing practice. These participants who taught skills to students were registered for R425 SANC Nursing Curriculum. Revealed uncertainties regarding their implementation nursing. They expressed concernes that despite South African Council’s espoused holistic approach nursing, a gap still exist SANC’s philosophy. This view is supported by the lack guidelines from SANC. According indicates failure embracing as vital component “holistic nursing”. An exploratory interview-based qualitative design was used explore CSs. certificate no: 13/4/22 granted University Higher Degrees Committee. Nine (n = 9) CSs purposively selected respond one open-ended question, “what your Participants included if written consent obtained, had facilitated learning two or more semesters. Data analysed using Tesch. Emerged themes in-depth interviews with include: (i) defining care; (ii) current status teaching learning; (iii) benefits (iv) need care. Each theme described below show how it contributed objectives study. Spiritual needed not only demostrate nurses’ morality. But importantly nurses are obliged alleviate deep human suffering which met possible through hand. On other hand they questioned “how holistic” "holistic care" without attending health patient client.
